MLK Day of Hope - Coming together to serve

On January 20th, neighbors united to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through action and service during our annual MLK Day of Hope. Volunteers joined forces to provide local families with critical home repairs, creating safer, healthier living spaces.

We were especially grateful to partner with Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization renowned for its disaster relief efforts. While their work usually focuses on responding to crises, this time, they contributed on the preventative side, helping families stay safe in their homes.

We also want to give a special shoutout to Target in Jacksonville, who stepped up as our “Snack Hero.” Their thoughtful donation kept everyone energized and added more joy to a day full of hard work and community spirit.

MLK Day of Hope is about more than just repairing homes—it’s about strengthening connections. Substandard housing affects families deeply, and addressing these issues requires teamwork and compassion. Each volunteer, snack donor, and supporter made it clear: this community cares about its neighbors.

Dr. King’s legacy reminds us that true greatness comes from serving others and lifting each other up, and we’re proud to carry forward that message through our work.
