Independence for more Homeowners

Updated: Jul 14, 2022

Willie served in the Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division completing 83 jumps, including four during combat in Korea and Vietnam. After he retired, he developed major back pain and suspects the pain stemmed from all those jumps. Those injuries have caused severe walking issues and he uses both a cane and scooter to help with mobility.

Hurricane Florence caused extensive damage to Willie’s home and FEMA stepped in to help by removing his damaged flooring. However, the floors have remained unfinished and unlevel since 2018

A social worker told Willie about WARM and he applied for assistance, hoping that after nearly four years, his floors could finally be finished. In their current state, the floors make it extremely difficult for Willie to move around. He is grateful that WARM is working to improve the safety of his home.
