The summer heat can make your energy bill rise faster than the temperature. Here are 8 tips to conserve energy this summer. (And some you can use year-round!)
LED lights make more light with less electricity. An LED light bulb only uses 9 watts to produce as much light as a 60-watt incandescent bulb.
Turn down the water heater thermostat to 120 degrees F.
Wash with cold water, instead of hot – hot water is only necessary for very dirty laundry.
Clean the lint filter in the dryer after every use. A clogged filter can prevent your dryer from doing its job.
Use the air-dry option on dishwashers.
Unplug power adapters and chargers when you are done charging. They still draw energy unless you unplug it.
Use a fan first. They don’t use as much energy and are effective.
Set the thermostat to 78 degrees F.
